Benaki Museum

Benaki Museum is one of the most famous museums in Athens and was founded in 1929 by Antonis Benakis. The main museum is housed in the neoclassical building of the Benaki family, built in 1867-1868 at the intersection of Kounbari street and Vasilissis Sofias Avenue opposite the National Garden. In the three floors of the museum visitor can see representative works of all areas of Greek history and art from prehistoric times to modern. The museum performs many periodic exhibitions in

collaboration with Greek and foreign museums. On its premises there is also a workshop for the restoration and preservation of works of arts, a canteen, and a shop.

The museum has also proceeded with several publications.

Athens War Museum

The Athens War Museum, established on July 18, 1975. It is the museum of the Greek Armed Forces. Its purpose is the exhibition of weapon artifacts and the relevant research in the history of war. It has a collection of maps and personal records of the military from 19 th and 20 th century. Outdoor, visitor can see arm weapons and an air force aircraft. It covers all eras of military activity from the early Bronze Age to the present day. The museum also functions as an educational space for school tours. The Athens War Museum has established branches in Thessaloniki, Chania, Nafplio, and Tripoli.
